“Modern societies with a highly developed service and industrial economy are characterized by division of work and an intensive participation in globalization, whereby this is only possible by using different infrastructures. Austria perceives the opportunity and is aware of the challenge involving this dependency.
In order to ensure reliable supplies, the protection of critical infrastructure became increasingly important. Therefore the Austrian Federal Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of the Interior developed the Austrian Program for Critical Infrastructure Protection, which forms the framework for all preventive and protective activities in this regard. The Federal Agency for State Protection and Counter Terrorism is entrusted with prevention work, advice for providers, protection against and investigation of threats and crimes against critical infrastructures. The activities mentioned also include cyber threats. The Vienna Cyber Security Week is a great occasion to exchange good practice in this context.”
