“Not only the issue of energy security is connected to economic growth, but it is also a national security issue par excellence. The sustainability of energy supply is one of the main state`s policy priorities, and international energy cooperation is, therefore, an imperative need.
A dialogue among the governmental sector, businesses, academic community and civil society on cooperation modalities in the Eurasian region and on current energy security issues can only contribute to a better understanding of various aspects of energy security, from foreign policy to development, while at the same time aiming to identify the best forms of international cooperation at various levels.
The upcoming Euro-Asian Energy Security Forum conference, taking place on 26-27 October 2018 in Belgrade, is aimed at launching a process to gather key international stakeholders in order to encourage cooperation and understanding in the Eurasian space, to promote security of energy supply and infrastructure, and also to open a new channel of communication between the governmental and non-governmental sectors in interest of supporting stability and economic growth. It is my sincere expectation that the conference will have its follow-up meeting next year in one of the Eurasian capitals.”
